◆A statement on Ukraine support from Ichikawa International Exchange Association
(IIA) April 1, 2022
We at IIA, foster a multicultural rich society that respects different
cultures and values while carrying out international exchange activities
that aim to reflect these values.
The action that goes against these international exchange activities is
a war of invasion which we cannot accept for any reason in modern international
communities.
We are totally and completely opposed to this war of invasion and will
provide as much humanitarian support as possible to the Ukrainians who
are suffering in misery as well as those in Russia who have the courage
to oppose this war.
We also strongly oppose any attack or blame on Russian people living in
Japan.
A donation box has been set up in the International Lounge. Please place
your warm support into this donation box.

◆Recruiting for “Supporters for non-Japanese residents at Evacuation Shelters"
When disaster strikes, we are concerned that the non-Japanese residents who evacuate at the shelters would experience anxieties and face difficulties in understanding instructions. For this reason, IIA and Ichikawa City have concluded an agreement long before to support non-Japanese residents in the event of a disaster. Our support is very much needed at the shelter.
It is not mandatory to go to the shelter to give support when it occurs. We are counting on your kind spirit to help us in this endeavor.
1. What is the role of a Supporter?
When a disaster occurs or is predicted, we will be requested by Ichikawa City Hall to assist non-Japanese residents who need interpretation support at evacuation shelters.
